Agriturismo in Ragusa, a journey of discovery in Southern Sicily
If you are planning a trip to Ragusa, across the places of the famous TV series “Inspector Montalbano” surrounded by the beautiful landscape of this part of Sicily, Case Passamonte is the ideal place. A familiar Agriturismo in the countryside of Chiaramonte Gulfi, few km away from Ragusa and the other Baroque towns of the Val di Noto, with a typical Sicilian restaurant, swimming-pool, rooms and facilities to enjoy a relaxing week-end.
Built from the renovation of a farmhouse of the XVIII century, it has an intimate courtyard where 5 rooms are located. It still preserves the ancient olive-press, a small frescoed church, the typical food storage room, called “dammuso”, a wood furnace and a room dedicated to the preparation of the ricotta and other cheeses, called “tannura”.
Rooms are located where the farming families lived in the past. The restaurant offers Sicilian specialties of the local cuisine, and special vegetarian and gluten free menus. The small cellar gives the opportunity to taste a selection of Sicilian wines, in a charming ambience, among old bottles and handcrafted barrels.
Case Passamonte is also the perfect place for a relaxing break in the countryside with family or friends. The outdoor pool has a beautiful view over the surrounding countryside. In the nearby, there is the town of Chiaramonte Gulfi with 8 museums, 25 churches and several restaurants, where you can taste the traditional cuisine. In a 50 km wide area, there are the late baroque towns of the Val di Noto, Unesco World Heritage, Ragusa Ibla, Modica, well known for its chocolate, Scicli, Caltagirone, the birthplace of the famous ceramics, Noto, Piazza Armerina with the world famous mosaics of Villa del Casale and Palazzolo Acreide, with its outstanding Greek Theater. Not far, there is also the Castle of Donnafugata, a sumptuous manor house of the end of XIX century.
